An unprovoked airstrike conducted by the military junta in the southwestern part of Ye-U Township, Sagaing Region, has resulted in multiple civilian casualties, according to local residents.
The attack occurred around 4:30 PM on September 7. Three combat aircraft and one Mi-35 attack helicopter, deployed from the Northwestern Regional Military Command (Na-Ma-Kha), bombed the Tin Tein Yan railway station and the surrounding football field in southwestern Ye-U, despite there being no active armed clashes in the area.
The brutal airstrike instantly killed five members of a family who ran a local car workshop. Three other victims succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment, and several others remain injured.
“There were no festivals, celebrations, or any gatherings at the targeted location. There was absolutely nothing. Yet, they bombed it, causing civilian casualties and destroying homes. We are still investigating the exact number of bombs dropped,” a local resident of Ye-U stated.
The five family members who died on the spot suffered horrific and fatal wounds, including decapitation, severed lower torsos, blown-off limbs, and severe shrapnel injuries all over their bodies.
