An airstrike struck near Ywar Thit Chaung village in Kyaikhto Township, Mon State, at about 1:00 a.m. on June 18, killing four paramilitary members and one civilian, according to military sources.

The victims were attacked while they were at a shop on the village outskirts, where they had stopped to greet returning paramilitary colleagues coming back from the front at Phapun, sources said.

“One moment they were resting there at the roadside junction, then the plane came and dropped bombs,” a military source told PRM.

The airstrike killed four paramilitary members — including one female — and a 38 year old man. Several others were reported wounded.

Details of the casualties have not been independently verified, but sources say there were numerous injuries.

There has been no statement so far from rebel groups, including the Karen National Union (KNU), regarding the incident.

On the same day, June 18, the military also carried out an airstrike on a house built and donated with assistance from the Japan-Nippon Foundation in Chaungna Khwa village, Ye Township. @waiyanmoemyint69
